What can I safely compost?
« on: September 03, 2008, 22:43 »
Hello,

Apologies if this has been asked before. I've tried to do a search but couldn't find what I was looking for in the existing posts.

I'm wondering if there is a definitive list of what can/can't be safely composted. I've recently got a compost bin and want to put a list up in the kitchen. I've found a few but some are mentioning things others don't. I did find a reasonably good one when I was looking at compost bins, I thought it was on the recyclenow site but I can't find it anymore, only a shorter one.

Perhaps if something useful comes of this post the information may be worth putting into the useful into sticky thread?

Thanks!

In one sentence you can compost virtually anything that was part of a living entity once, apart  animal flesh and parts.

Ie plants, grass, hedge trimmings, wood, leaves, paper, sawdust, excrement, coffee/tea grounds, the list is endless
