Green finger here, I need some advice about lighting for my greenhouse.
I would like to grow show onions wich I have been told to sow them in December under greenhouse lights, But It is very expensive for me, I also have no electricity for my greenhouse as it is a fair way from my house. Is there an alternative type of lighting and can it be solar garden lights.

Hello green fingers, please do not take offence at what I am going to say, I mean it only as friendly advice. I know very little about growing show vegetables and from your question it sounds like you know about as much as me. Growing show onions is a lot more complicated than just growing them for eating and can be expensive equipment wise. Also a lot of time is needed in the nurturing of the onions.
Before you start spending any money, you would be better gathering as much information as you can about the subject. Get yourself a couple of books on the subject, cruise the Internet for info, check your local library and see if anybody near you is growing show veg to give you advice. You will get plenty of good advice on here, but you need to get the full picture, not just answers to specific questions. It could save you a lot of money wasted on unnecessary equipment. I do know somebody from the N/E who grows show onions and I know it is hard work and can be expensive to start from scratch.
