Peas for the Autumn?

What are your views on sewing peas for over-wintering or this late? (Forgive me if I am asking a totally silly question - I am a complete novice!)

Thanks!

Peas for the Autumn?

Ive never overwintered peas myself, and dont really think its worth it for the possible earlier harvest
Theres the mice, rats, rotting, etc that the seeds have to contend with!

Im just going to start them off early in my GH next year (maybe beginning of feb) then plant out and see what happens.

If you have a polytunnel I know this works a treat, because where I work they were fully grown very early and harvested before mine on the lotty were even producing pods!

Peas for the Autumn?

I noticed last year that some of the peas that I had neglected to pick came up again and we had a second crop, so a couple of weeks ago I put some more in and they've come up already, whether we do end up getting winter peas is another matter, but I had so many could afford to lose a few.  I did over winter mine, planted them in October the first year, but couldn't do it last year as the weather was so bad, to be honest didn't really notice much difference.

I chucked a couple of manky-looking peas in the wormery a couple of weeks ago, then found that the peas had sprouted a few days later, so I've planted them and they have now started to grow nicely! No idea if I'll get much off them but it's certainly worth a try!  :D
