Hi everyone another daft question from me, finally went over to the allotment and it was a mass of weeds. To my surprise i found three living cucumber plants, potatoes, 3 sweetcorn plant, jerusalem artichokes and pumpkins  / BNS who knows which, taken over the place.

As i was clearing under the pumpkinish leaves i found this:-


Is this edible? I think its a pumpkin (ghost) or an odd looking Butternut squash.

I looks like an unripe pumpkin to me. I think it would have been better leaving it on the plant to ripen. Not sure if it's worth eating.

Thanks Greg, unfortunately it fell off the plant into my little boys hands. Can i just ripen it in the kitchen table?

hmm never thought of that, a green monster instead of the usual orange brigade

We did the same thing, found a smallish pumpkin that someone told us was ready to be picked as they told us the wrong variety, it's green and has been on my dining table for about 3 weeks, no sign of ripening though!

we had a problem ripening ours last year .
we put ours in the greenhouse for a week or so, that helped to ripen it.

its not a round courgette is it?

Pretty sure its a pumpkin unless someone replaced it for a courgette one.
Its does look like a round courgette though.
