I know that I havent actually grown them but they are on my allotment now I have taken it over and it still felt good to be picking something (especially as the allotment is free until April 2009).

I picked a couple of pound of raspberries (some were abit squishy and I dont think I fancy eating them but they will be fine for my rumtopf jar) and about 1lb of redcurrants.

I found lots of parsnips but they seemed to have all gone to seed.  I also found a white currant bush and yet another compost heap (3 huge ones now) and another water butt  (9 at last count).

I have taken a few tools up there today and hopefully we are going to start making a dint on the weeds over the weekend.
I always find that work gets in the way of life.

Just think what it will taste like next year when you have grown it yourself.
Good luck with the weeds.  :?

This one isnt too bad.  It is very overgrown but the weeds come out easily.

The chap that had it before loved his allotment and really looked after it.  Sadly he died last year and his wife was hoping to keep it on but couldnt so it has a years worth of weeds on but the soil is fantastic and the berries are great.

I think it will take a month or so to get it back up to scratch.  My dad already has big plans for it.  He is wanting to get some brussel sprouts in but I am trying to put him off as none of us actually like them!!

The problem with sprouts is the way people cook them.  Do it right and they are delicious.

No sorry - you will never convince me.  My mum used to cook them for a week and they were foul.

I have done them nice and crunchy and also shredded and cooked with bacon and I am still not keen.  I will eat them occasionally but not enough to warrant planting loads of them
