hi every one im new to this so ive got a question.....what is the best hieght and diameter for the perches in my new chicken coop ..look forward to your replys as that the last part of the project...... then i can get the girls installed..... im liberating 1/2 dozen battery hens

Hi TT  diameter of perchs for chickens should be 2 to 2.5 inches, and our perches are on a graduated scale, it like a ladder.  first one about 9inch high, then6 inches or so higher for 4 or 5 perches.  My Brian makes them on legs so I can move around from house to house.

but my posh nest boxes have perches in front of them and the top ones are about 4ft from the ground and they still get up there!!!!

Hi teltronic and welcome in.

Bear in mind also that the ex-bats won't ever have seen a perch so you'll have to read them the instruction book.

There's many experienced ex-batters on here (Grannieannie included) so keep asking.
