I've had more male flowers on my courgettes this year than ever before and as I have posted before my beans got done by the wind.  Planted some dwarf ones in a spare patch and they all got eaten,  Would go out in the morning and there'd be a couple of shoots, come back at lunch and they'd gone.  Planted some more today (Please don't tell them it's August as the packet said 'until July' but they can't read so may get away with it.

My dwarfs are in flower now so fingers x'd.. i got a bit carried away with the planting i think but we love dwarf beans and they freeze well. :) just hoping my pumpkin and butternut produce something too. :) My toms are still thinking about it.. some tiny green fruits but nothing much..

Wighty i'm sure they won't know the month! lol

I picked my first beans today - not many of them and they're mixed in with the peas, but it was really heavy carrying this lot back from the allotment today!

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Well the season is running 3 weeks late anyway (according to some growers) so its still effectively the middle of july.

My dwarf french beans are sat there in the open entirely unmolested. Its a lot to do with where you are . I put some veggies in at my mothers in growbags and they have got severely attacked by caterpillars. On my lotty, its mainly rabbits and pigeons. At my house it slugs and snails.

Woweeee!!! I've had a few like that! The last bigg'un i had weighed in at a stonking 4.5lb!

I gave it to my mum who stuffed and baked it lol.

As for runners etc... i made a lovely munty frame and planted out lots of lovingly tended runner bean plants which i'd grown from seed, and overnight either the pigeons or rabbits had them  :(

So i replaced them with some shop bought ones,a nd the same thing happened again.

So my munty frame has now been dismantled and is now in two parts, being used as tomato supports lol

Bloomin pigeons or rabbits also ate my sunflowers too! Oh, and nasturtiums, lettuces and half my beetroot too!

Not amused!
Trying to live the good life.. getting there slooooowly...
