DONE IT!!!!!!!!

We were given 9 Pekin eggs last night to put under our broody...who happens to be a Pekin......let's see what happens..once on eggs do the hens ever get fed up and leave them?

I have to say when she saw the eggs she immediately gathered them under her making such a lovely noise, I found it quite a moving experience..yes I know I am just a softie, but it never ceases to amaze me how they just know to do these things!

Broody (hannah) still sitting...one question...when and where do they Poo?  I check in daily to freshen water and add more feed as needed..I have looked under her...cautiously as did not want to cause too much offence...she just growled and fluffed up even bigger.... she isn't eating much, so working on it has to go in to come out perhaps I shouldn't worry?

Yesterday our two new girls arrived...both about 15 weeks (I think the lady said)..one is a Buff Rock...husband has named Sandy..how original.

One is a Gold Lace Wndot (spelling)  called Daisy...They took themselves to bed ast night after only being here a few hours...This morning they are in the garden with the others...no obvious problems although a few threats last night from the Big Girls.....The Buff has chased all the doves that have landedi n the garden and when approached by one of the rabbits made it clear she was not immpressed!!!!!

They look so young......hope they will be ok.

You should really be taking Hannah off the nest once a day so she can go poop, she will have a good scratch about and flap, no more than 20 mins off then pop her back on the eggs.

Beware her poop when she does it will be huge & very smelly, but she'll feel so much better after
