Yeah they all do it. Scoop it out, lots of it.  I've tried the feeder at different heights but still they do it.  The food gets all over the place

The first day I didn't but the second day I did add bokashi to the mix. She was messy from the first time she used the feeder though. She does have a tiny bit missing from her beak so I wondered if that was what made her do it.

I have orderd my feeders now and I think I have found some wire which is bulky enough to hold them (Thanks Aunt Sally for the pics very helpful).

All I can do is try them I guess!! I'm sure my hens will scoop the food out.......but it can't be any worse than at the moment where they literally tip the food out and knock thier feeder over!!!

I'm also using the feeders to try and save some sapce so the hens aren't walking around bashing thier heads on feeders.

Don't fill the "grub" too full Andy and don't put any other type of feed in with the pellets  :!:

Let us know how it works  :D

I love the Eglu feeders - we use them and the girls and boy don't scoop their food out - they must be very civilised 'cos they line up nicely in the morning to take turnst to eat. However, they still scrabble about in the flower beds looking for tasty morsels
