So the Pekin Lavender was broody  probably early May time...Now she is at it again!...this time I was aware of what was happening so from day one she has been taken out of the nest box and put in a small cage in the garden...she can walk about and stretch and flap about in it but all she wants to do is sit and grumble...the other two Black Rock and Black Rock Cross are looking at her in a sad sort of way...one of them has also stopped laying!  Do they come out in sympathy?

The only difference is that this time when she sees me giving the others treats she shouts out for some whereas last time she was just not interested.

She goes into the house with the others at night.

How often do they go broody?

Dont know how often they go broody, but we have a columbian pekin that goes every two weeks without fail!!  :x  We havent got the space to let her have chicks (would love to though) so she gets put in a coop by herself for 3 or 4 days until she is back to her normal self. One of the others when let out will go and sit by the coop with the broody, as you say almost in sympathy!  :roll:
