I've took over an allotment (well, a weedy, grassland) last year. The only thing I left was some raspberry canes. They have produced about 4 good bowls of fruit. My question is, there are a lot of new plants. Do I have to prune later in the year? Will the new plants produce fruit next year or will they come off the old canes?

Hi Flash.

When the old canes have finished fruiting, you cut them down to a couple of inches from the ground.
If the canes are tied to posts or wires, you cut the new ones back to a couplf of inches or so above the support/wires and they will fruit next year. If you have too many canes, you can cut out a few but we just let them all stay because we're greedy !
