hi anyone with advice, my early pots will be ready to dig up in about 2/3 weeks time and as its my first year i have grow far too many, what do i plant in the ground after i have dug them up,, ps, i was late in getting the pots in the ground,

Salad crops could follow, lettuce, radish etc, tradition says your leeks but mine are already in. Chard is good if you like spinach in your meals.

thanks aidy too much ground for all that salad stuff! however, never grown chard is that done from seed staight into ground or put in pots and transplanted.my allotment is 125mts in lenght and about 15/20mts wide by what I gather it is very large plot, thats why 1/3 is growing potato's 6 diffrent kinds only had the plot since feb this year so no idea what goes in next. thanks for advice.

You can sow chard straight in the ground, you can look for crops that grow quick, just watch on your rotation you not planting the same type in that will be going in next year, I normaly leave the ground to rest once the spuds are up.

Very large plot. You now thinking what to put in about 500 sq metre space, am I correct? A tad big for salads would agree, also don't put it down to courgettes. :wink:  :lol:  :lol:

If you haven't any plants, you could try to buy some. Pumpkin, sweet corn, over-wintering brassica, failing that, get some ready for fruit planting in winter or lay to green manure.

Pop into you local garden centres and see what veg plants are available.  a) if they're available they should be OK to plant now b) they've had a head start over seed.

Mummmm thats about right gobs it is very large when ive learnt how to post pic's i will show everyone how hard ive worked since my daughter dumped me (a past topic) i will trol around some garden centres this weekend (it you want a laugh see,  ''potato seeds'' in chat )  thank you all for some sound advice
