Asparagus from seed
« on: June 19, 2008, 13:44 »
After three weeks in the seed tray I have at least a dozen baby spears shooting - I am amazed!!

But what is the next step with raising these beauties?  Do they get hardened off and put straight into the proposed bed outside or do I have to put them into pots ready to be transferred early Spring next season?

help please.

You can go either way, RM. but definitely harden them off first if you decide to put them straight outside. Insert some markers as you plant them so you'll not accidently dig up those spots next year. Or, you can put them in 4" pots for this year so the roots have space and definitely get them outside in spring after hardening off. People forget just how large the roots become.
