Some cochin chicks are hatching under a broody hen. They have been pipped since yesterday morning and have not really got any further. They are still cheeping. I tried gently lifting a few small pieces if shell but a small amount of blood appeared so i lost my nerve and put it back. I dont really know what to do.  :?:

Leave them alone. It takes a long time for them to hatch, they don't simply shrug their shoulders and get rid of the shell. Although they are in an artificial incubator, nature knows best.
Try and resist taking the incubator lid off until they have all hatched and don't worry.

if there's blood leave well alone, they're not ready yet to pop out

I've always left broody hens to it and been 100% succesful everytime,
I know it's easy for me to say sat here  but it really is for the best.

Have another look tonight. They wont hatch till all the blood has been absorbed from the membrane and by that time the yolk will also have been completely absorbed and the chick will be ready to say hi
