Hi all

So, the new allotment is coming along! All planted and growing happily:
- potatoes, onions, spinach and lettuce (can barely keep up with harvesting the leafy stuff; it comes up so fast!)
growing happily, but a bit slower:
- pumpkin, sweetcorn, tomatoes and strawberries. Oh, and some beans - purple climbing french ones that Dave sent me and some runner beans too (big happy wave to Dave!!).

And bunged in some peas a few days ago, so hopefully those will come up.

The only non-starter so far was the broad beans - black flies gobbled them up before any flowers could form, so I yanked them out...

Question is: what else can I plant now? I was thinking of carrots and beetroots - is there still time to grow them from seed? Is it too late for sprouting broccoli? Any other suggestions? Dwarf french beans maybe? (My allotment is in southeast london, fairly rich but heavy clay soil, lots of sunny days for now...)

Certainly not too late for carrots & beetroot, keep the lettuce, radishes etc. going. I've just sown the seeds for my over-winter caulis.

Little late for broccolli sowing, but there may be plants around.

Pleased the beans are doing OK!

Hi Lisa,
I believe there is still plenty you can sow and plant in June, these are my plans

1 Sow seeds of Kale (Black Tuscany and Pentland Brigg) and purple
   sprouting brocolli in a seed bed
   (These will be planted to replace the early potatoes.)

2 Leeks to be planted after the broad beans beans have finished
   (from seeds sown a couple of months ago in a seed bed)

3 Carrots to be sown after the early peas have finshed.

4 Lettuces to be sown after the onions have been harvested

5 Sow additional short rows of radishes and beetroot in betweeen
   brussel sprout plants

6 Plant sweetcorn plants, with a cougette and a butternut squash plant
   in the same bed.

7 Sow seeds of spring cabbage to put wherever I can find the room

Hopefully it will stop raining long enough this weeknd for me to get stuck in.
