Rabbits and leeks

Aargh   :x

The blooming rabbits have come along and eaten off the tops of every single leek that I planted out on Saturday - looks as though somebody's run a lawnmower over the lot.

Given that I've heard people suggesting that you should trim off the leaves when you transplant them, does this mean that they have a chance of coming back if I cover them to stop the rabbits getting at them again.
