Black Fly
« on: June 06, 2008, 20:54 »
Hello

I have some black fly on my broad beans which has now spread to some of my french beans on the other side of the garden.
I have read that they can damage plants and reduce crops but can't find much info on what to do about them.  Any information on how to get rid of them would be much appreciated.

Thanks

First of all pinch the tops out of your broad beans.  that is the part the black fly like the most.

I sprayed my broad beans last week with soft soap to get rid of the black fly.  but you can also buy a product which contains fatty acids which does the same job as soap.  these are organic methods.  I'll see if I can find the name of the product.
