Thanks everyone for the advice, all i can say is i have two "weeds" i can eat not too bad going really.

In a front metre long patch is chick weed and the patch of mud in the yard sorrel. Hmmm sorrel soup.

Had to get involved in this! I'm with munty on this. No I dont think any of them look like carrots but there are no real leaves there yet. Yes I think that is celeriac. Fennel is a doddle to grow but if anyone knows how to stop it answers on a postcard please!!!

All of those WEEDS have at least their second pair of leaves.

Believe me - none of those are carrot seedlings!

Who would have known a weed could be so good for you?

Think i might boil some and use it my sort throat aka chest infection that's loves me too much to leave (4 weeks and counting).

Or could some in a pot and let it grow there. hmmm the possibilties

Try it kezlou, it's really not so bad!
The little young bits are nice anyway, bit like fresh peas I thought. But the big ones & those with flowers on are like dog wee, not so nice at all.

I tried it raw from the ground yesterday kezlou, but cos I've got soooo much and it's really been annoying me, going to try making a soup with it. Then if it's nice I can stop getting so upset about it springing up everywhere and view it as another crop instead, so picking it will be nice, not a chore

There's a simple recipe at http://www.countrylovers.co.uk/wildfoodjj/chickweed.pdf that I'm going to try today.
But the young little bits I could eat on a salad anytime, it's quite nice!
