They would not like to dry out ... would suggest one of these ... or those tubes ?

didnt realy want anything like that due to ground space shortage, im still thinking about putting a row in on my patch but that wont be this year.

we water every day anyway so dont think it would be a problem with drying out

all im after is a idea how many can go in one basket, what kind of spacings they idealy need planted that way and what would be ok as a liner for the wire basket i have to use

thanks

nathan

Beegly.

I've never tried ordinary strawberry's in a basket. Would be very interesting to hear your results.

I have grown alpine strawberry's in a suitable container with great results though.

Sounds like a lot of plants for one basket though...although I'm no expert.

well this was my thinking about there being to many!

are the alpine ones the ones that crop and then die?

I'm planting my strawberries in the ground about a foot apart, some varieties are rather large, mind.

So, one, maybe 2 to a basket? :? Feed and water a lot.

By pure chance I read a book last night that suggested strawberries in a hanging basket - they reckoned 3 plants in a 12" to 14" basket...

what ever you do - protect them from birds.

Its also recomended that you dont let them fruit the first year if planted out in spring.
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.
