Any silkie info/advice for newbie
Silkie cockerels are pretty loud.  Last yr we got a couple of Silkies and one turned out to be a cockerel.  Had to part with him as neighbours were complaining.

At first i tried to deny to myself that there was a problem and when I thought I heard crowing at 3 am I tried to blame the seagulls.  Though neighbours confirmed that they had heard him crowing in the night.

After a couple of months though I had to accept that there was a problem (not for me i liked the crowing), and that cock a doodle doo at 2:30, 3:00 am etc was not particularly popular in an urban area.

It went on pretty much all day too.

Are you able to get older hens so that the problem wouldn't arise, it's heartbreaking to let one go after you've got attatched to them.
