Leylandii (Yes I know - don't start   :(  )

No branches as such just tips, nothing thicker than 1/8inch.  In with the normal compost, or will they take too long to break down? Theres always  the incinerator for pot ash if its going to take to long and make a mess of my black gold.

It will take somewhat longer and makes the compost acidic. You can compost it separately though and mix in with other for soft fruit, they like it.

they burn like buggery and are good for getting a lotty fire going. I have to be right careful about when I have a fire, eg after dark and only if the householders next to my plot are out and there is no washing about, so not often I have one but when I do I light it with bits of conifer. Fresh works just as well. They have a conifer hedge next to my plot and when they cut it I get loads of it fall on to my side and I save it for when I need it. When it dies off and goes brown it's even more incendiary  :D    Watch your eyebrows as it goes up very fast

I use Garotta to help hedge break down, then when its stewed a few months i riddle out the uncomposted woody bits , let them dry out and burn them.

Cheers peeps

Several trees have already met a fiery end with the burner.

I had a feeling it was going to take too long to compost, I could alway put in the drop sacks with the turfs for next year.    I need organic matter in the sand I laughingly call soil ASAP so Im trying to keep very warm piles, its surprising just how hot the Darleks get.

Not alf!  They get red hot with the addition of lawn mowings, not too many though as you don't want slime  :D   Try it yourself.  Add some mowings on a hot day, make a well so you can put your hand in later.  Leave it alone for a few hours and then go back and stick your hand in. It will be steamy and red hot  :D
