My mom LOVES Peacocks so I thought if everything seemed okay I'd get a few eggs off of ebay or something and put them in my incubator.

But I don't know too much about them.. Are they agressive?
We have 4 acres, a creek, woods, and a small pond. We also have farm ducks and mallards and we may soon be getting my grandma's 4 chicken's and rooster. I also have 3 horses. Would the peacock's be okay?
They'd obviously have plenty of room and we have a big shed were they can go for shelter.

And.. How easy are they to hatch in an incubator?

I'm kinda clueless... lol

Some one a few miles away from me has some- all i know is that they are often getting out of their big garden and that they are seriously noisy -good luck.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Hi Snaphappi,
You can hatch peacock eggs in an incubator but a broody hen is better as then she takes some of the rearing off your hands as they're seriously flighty babies!! We had to wing clip for their safety, at a few days old and again a little later until they were more experienced in the world!! We have 2 living free in the garden, which is smaller than yours, and they're delightful! If you do get eggs, e mail me and I'll support you through rearing them! You will need a pen to start with, as once they start to fly, they're really too small and sit in the trees quite low down and shout..."Fox I'm here!" so you need to get them in at night. If they had a real mum, she'd teach them to fly high up to roost but hens can't do that so we had a nightly ritual of finding them and putting them in till morning!

Ideally move your broody hen/s with the peacock eggs into a pen as high as you can make it with a perch high so that they can roost and feel safe! I think the hens give them an anchor as well as they still spend most of their time in the hen run! Don't just get one because it will wander esp if it's a male..even if it thinks it's a hen!

Regards the "noise"! At the moment they are very noisy but it only lasts a couple of months at most and after that you hardly hear them. They are noisy though and call in the night if they are startled as well as very early in the morning but..only at this time of year. You do need to check if you have neighbours as we have a friend who has a peacock and his neighbours hate it and complain about the noise!

Also it is important to be really sure before you embark on rearing peacocks as the males are hard to re-home, because they have to be penned for a long time if they move, and they live for over 20 years, so it's not a short-term project!!

Good luck...don't be put off, if you're serious about peacocks, as they are beautiful, cheeky, and delightful to have around...even with their calling in Spring!!

Judi

Our neighbour has at least 25 peacocks/hens he has them ´free ranging´ about his plot.  We often see a peahen walking past our house :D   The neighbours across from the peacock neighbours are not happy about the birds, the birds do make a lot of noise at night (some times).  Even if we open our gate they squark! and we are a bit away from them.  I hardly notice them at night now.  The neighbours have ducks, hens, another bird who´s breed I can´t remember all together in their garden.  Needless to say they have no veg!  The birds roost at night in the pine trees.
