Ok, I've gone all over-enthusiastic about the new allotment, I know, but I'm trying to plan out my rotation scheme before I dig up beds .

From plotting things out on paper, it looks as though I can get 6 evenly-sized beds, plus one semi-permanent for soft fruits and rhubarb, plus room for a shed and (eventually) a polytunnel.

How does this look as a 6-way rotation?

         (manure / compost)
Potatoes
         (lime and manure / compost)
Legumes
         (lime)
Brassicas
         (manure / compost)
Squashes
         (Would I add manure / compost here?)
Onions
Roots (Are swedes roots or brassicas?)

(Just noticed that my spellchecker claims that 'brassicas' ought to be 'brassieres'

Legumes - don't use lime and manure at the same time, unless gardening on very rich soil

Onions - you can do either, good as a mulch whilst ground is wet, shallow rooted things
