I thought it was all a little too easy.  It is our first year and didn't get the plot till April.  We got some Oinions in right away but have pulled half of them with Rot (think hubby was overcooking the hosing!)

Found today my Spinach is bolting also.   I now understand how you have to learn the lessons to become wise and wrinkly like my plot neighbour!

On the plus side my sweetcorn Kernels (sp?) are about 2-3 inches long, hopefully I won't kill these!

Oh dear, after many years doing this I am still learning too, one tip I can give you is I grow Chard instead of spinach, I found they dont bolt anything like spinach. The onions that have rotted, was there any sign of insects on the bulb near the root, if so this is onion fly, try growing them under netting.

Thanks Aidy.   On the one bulb there was a teeny (bout 5mm) black 'worm' on the one and they had black / white rot on the bottom.  Some of them did almost look as though there was ahole in the bottom????

What does this sound like?

Will have a go with Chard, had heard about it but have never eaten it. Can you eat the small leaves in salads like spinach?

Reckon the fly got your onions, once they are established the bulbs
stinks. Chard is great, we eat all year round, cook like spinach and yes it can be eaten raw, the stem is a delicacy but to be honest I would'nt give to the rabbit, not that we have.
