Hello all.  I have a Welsummer sitting on 7 eggs and for 2 days it didn;t get off to eat or drink.  Today (3rd day) she did to my relief.  However, it occured to me that I shouldn't be feeding her 'Layers' pellets.  Am I right andif socan you tel me what I should be giving her please.  Vivian

I give mine corn because it lasts longer and gives a sense of fullness, it also 'burns' at a higher temp and therefore helps broody maintain a good temp - not that should be much of a problem with the weather being better :) The bits and bobs in layers pellets are not really required for the short time that a broody is brooding and not laying. Anyhoo, thats what i do and it seems to be working.
If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.

Agree with bedifferent, make sure its poultry mixed corn. It gives the broody enough energy to sit tight and also keeps her droppings dry.

Thank you for the advice.  I did in the end play it safe and fed both.  She seems ok with that.

Have you relocated Muntjak?  I thought you were further south.  Its been a while since I visited.  I would like to ask how can I feed cor and grit once the chicks are hatched?  Won't they try to eat it and maybe choke?

Regards Vivian
