Ive been gowing this in my backgarden, for about a year and a half. But the bulb is tiny, I got a piece off a shop version and popped into some good soil, this year when I dug it up to put in the ground the bulb was about an inch wide and inch deep, I've had to repot it a few times because the roots are HUGE. But why is the bulb so tiny? Help please.

If you planted it 18 months agao, it should have been harvested when mature & then re-sown.

It may be pot bound.

It may not be suited to our climate, if it was shop bought, may be a variety used to warmer climes.

For best results, buy garlic from specialty places for fall planting outside. Garlic is very centered on light for growth - dwindling fall light for putting up good roots, longer, stronger spring light for thickening up the bulbs. Do it this way and your next batch will amaze you.

I just went to check on the garlic and, it had a smell Im wont forget, nasty, stale viniger and strong garlic. It was nasty, the tops of the leaves just came appart from the bulb, I think it rotted but it was white :?
