Went out in the rain to shut the chooks up, change the water, etc about 25 minutes ago.
Stepped outside and could hear them chuntering and at least one was outside still in the dark.
Got closer and they were queueing up on the ramp, getting rather wet and rosey various obscenities under their breath.

We'd forgotten to open the pophole door after cleaning out before teatime !

Oops. I think they woud have tunnelled out and come knocking on the door if I'd left them any longer.

Have to tie a knot in something in future.

They soon let us know when they want in / Out don´t they?  Poor things being left out in the rain!!  I wanted to clean out the hens this morning but I couldn´t as they were sitting in the nesting boxes, so waited , gave up at 1pm,had to wait then until it got cooler this evening. I had the watering system on the veg patch and when I went to get the broom I noticed the tubing had split so water was spraying everywhere, except onto the veg!  so once I sorted that out it was too dark to clean the hens out-  I will have to get up early to beat them to the nesting area tomorrow.

I've warned Julie she'll be shouted at in the morning. They normally ask why she's taken so long but I think they'll be a bit narked still.

Oh well. WOn't be the last time.  :)

LOL!     I know exactly what you mean about them swearing under their breath!!

Do yours grumble on at you if they're stuck in the run but want to get out and you can't/don't let them out?  Mine go on and on and on about how it's not fair and can't I just let them out for a bit... they won't eat the cauli's today.. honest!

Yes, precisely that. They watch the birds and ducks coming and going, eating their grass and playing in their garden but the dog would object.
