I took the easy way out with aubergine this year, as it is the first year I have grown them, and bought plants from the garden centre.  How many plants can I expect from each plant?

Very few, depending on variety, location and weather, 2-5, say.

2 years ago we bought 6 plants thinking that they only grew a few fruit, we got at least 12 off each one - made enough ratatouile? tosink a battle ship - fed the animals - in the end pulled them up as they kept producing ,they were in a polytunnel - never again!

I got none from 3 plants a couple of years ago but am going to try a few in the greenhouse on my plot this year.  love aubergines so am hoping they'll fruit this time.

It took a while for our plants to get going last year-I thought I was never going to get any fruit-  in the end I got around 8-10 off each plant.  We are in sunny Spain though, so I guess that doesn´t help  Saying that, once the temperatures hit the high 20´s and low 30´s everything seems to slow down and die/stop (except for the peppers last year).
