No real secret - 10 - no way!

70+ Runners, same with climbing purple french beans, 80+ Borlotto & about 50 'Purple Teepee' dwarf French beans.

Cold greenhouse, so they don't race away, hardened off on patio, always seem about right for planting out Mid May. Done it for years. Don't let them get too warm, but no frost either!

Oh - forgot about the green climbing French beans - but I've lost count.

Note to self - get more canes!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Its all academic, if you are impatient and like to get 'em going fine, if you stick the seed in the ground in mid may fine too, runners are so easy they almost plant themselves!!
Death OR Cake ???

It's a bit cold this year but last year when it was warmer I sowed them early and planted them out at the beginning of May, with fleece protection.  I had a bumper crop. But this year like DD I just started to chit mine 2 days ago.

And a lot more besides!

Not the norm. neighbours have a lot & a lot go to the local church for 'donations'. Also a lot go in the freezer!

There's just 2 of us and 14 runner bean plants filled our needs for a year. Of course, we believe man does not live by runner beans alone. There's broad beans, french beans, borlotti beans .... :)
Check out our books - ideal presents
