Swede Fly ?

I was just about to plant some Swede seeds today and my allotment neighbor mention to be care full of the Swede fly and cover the seeds. with very fine mesh or Poly tunnel.
I have never heard this before, any comments would be most welcome

never heard of it myself, this would not be the old cabbage root fly in disguise would it.

being a root veg would it not be similar to carrot fly?

I've had mealy fly on swede when I've tried to grow them before.

You're plenty early enough with the sowing, usually recommended late April to June. Ground is still quite cold with the chilly start to April.I would have left it a couple of weeks.
