I have Muscovy, Aylesbury, Runner and Call ducks and candle all their eggs using a very bright Spot/Desk light. I've got a piece of cardboard with an egg shaped hole cut in it about 1" across. I hold the cardboard across the shade of the lamp so that it blocks all the light except the hole and hold the egg up to the hole. It works a treat!
