I'd still put them in, better late than never you will probably still get a crop but expect smaller onions.  :D

Mine have only just gone in and I'm not expecting smaller onions!!!

According to Dr. H. late March/Early April is the premium time for sets. I'm sure the climate in the Netherlands is similar to ours, (it sounds it!!)

Welcome to the forums BTW.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Don't fret. Last year the potatoes went in on 15th April and the onion sets didn't go in until 29th April and I still had excellent crops from both. I have nothing in yet but as I sit here amongst the snow showers I am not bothered.  :)

I agree, there's no point in planting your onions if there's going to be snow and frost for the next week.

They won't grow and they'll just be sitting in cold wet soil.

I was going to plant my sets today until I saw the weather forecast.

They'll be fine. They're quite hardy. Mine have sat through worse in previous years.

So glad to hear all the encouragement for April planting... My potatoes finally went into my new allotment yesterday, and I woke up to this thick snow!!! Guess I'll put the onions in next week...

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who hasn't planted their spuds and onions yet.  I was getting worried I was too late!

Hopefully I will get them in this week, weather permitting.
