Hello all how many times a year can I expect my girls to go broody? As it seems to be non stop at the moment, only 2 of the 6 still running around the garden again this week :roll: I lift them all out every day and make sure they have some food and drink, but one of the Buff Orpy/ Wyandotte cross is now into her 4th week.

The cross you mentioned make very good and persistant broodys. You need to break them of their broodines otherwise they will continue to sit for week after week.

PJM I wish you were closer! Id come over and borrow one of your little broodies! Mine are pretending to go broody for a hour to get me hopeful-then the little mares are out and pecking around!!! I have cochin and favs I want to hatch plus the promise of some silver dorkings! :shock:

I wish I were closer Foxy, it seems such a shame, that they are sitting so tight and with no hope of babies, it would be great to let them hatch some chicks  The little monkeys really do sit tight and have a real grumble and sometimes a peck when I lift them out. I cleaned the coop out this morning before going to work, so they all went out and I made sure they had some food, water and treats, but as soon as I had finished they were at my feet to go back in
