I have grown certain plants on the side when space became an issue. As you probably know, plants grow towards the light and a fallen plant corrects itself withing a few hours, so I can't see why flipping the plant an extra 45 degrees from horizontal would be much different, plus it looks cool.  :)

it looks more like a gimmick to me as the nature of a plant is to grow up

not down could be good for basket toms like tumbler

I wonder what's the moon gravity gonna do about that one.

You don't get blight in green house tomatoes usually, nothing to do with upside down.

This was discussed last year, I'm sure someone on here tried similar, but whenever I put anything in a hanging basket, it always grows up first, then its own weight pulls it down.

And I got blight in the greenhouse and polytunnel last year Gobs!

looks pointless to me, why not just use a hanging basket? what worries me is that plant roots grow towards the highest concentration of nutrients, which being water soluble, means to the most water, which in this cas will be near the stem of the plant. Water leaking along the stem under gravity is likely to lead to rot. The weight of fruit is likely to put strain on the roots and stem, possibly pulling the whole plant out.

by all means let the trusses hand down, but grow the plant itself the right wat up

I'm sure our 'published' John mentioned buying one in his diaries last year. I don't know if he wrote up the results though!

Maybe we'll find out when we get the book!!!
