Give then ROOM! They are big plants, I planted 3 plug plants 2ft apart and they filled the bed in 1 summer.
Also, make sure you know how to eat/cook them. I love the ones you get in jars of oil but I couldn't cook the ones I grew and get them to taste nice. I gave them all (and there were lots) away   :(
First timer, NOT enjoying the backache anymore!

Keep them somewhere cold and light, maybe potted up in a shed/gh window for a few weeks, until it gets a bit nicer and then plant up a sq m a plant, will appreciate manure if you have any.

Thanks, gobs & Fletch!

I've never eaten them so am experimenting with the taste too!

Cheers,

They need a good metre square per plant, and watch out for the earwigs....best to soak them in a bucket for half an hour once picked so so the creepies can crawl out.
If you pick them young enough they won't have hairy chokes. Snap off the stem and outer leaves then finely slice, shallow fry and toss through pasta with lemon and olive oil - delicious! :)
