much too young?
« on: March 14, 2008, 00:22 »
evening all, i'm hoping to get 2-3 more chooks after easter to add to the year old black star and sussex star i've already got.

someone has offered me some 10 week old speckled hens but this seems to me to be a very young age to mix with my current hens.  i haven't seen these chickens yet so i'm not sure how big they are.  i would be able to keep them separate for a while but not for a great length of time.

if there a minimum age that pullets should reach before mixing with established hens?

If you get the 10 week old birds and keep them separate for a while make sure the older hens can see them.  It will make final introductions easier.
