I am chitting potatoes but the room is heated in the evening and I don't have any alternative position for them - is the heating going to be a problem - drying them out etc? Is there anything I can to to mitigate any effect the heating might have - watering them?

the best thing you can do now is plant the littel darlings
if your plot is in the brixton area all risk of frost will be long gone before they show above the ground
so go for it

I think,very good advice there, Brixton. Chitting potatoes is far from compulsory, if you don't have appropriate place for it, just plant them up.

They will get used to the temp and will get shattered when you plant them out otherwise.

For next year, better still, buy nowish from the garden centre, all nicely chitted, well stored.
