Serac Greenhouse problem
« on: March 10, 2008, 15:34 »
.gales have twisted my door frame slightly on the Serac greenhouse and every time there is a slight wind the damaged door handle allows the door to open.
Can`t replace ..firm no longer trade.
Posting some photos in the hope that a solution can be found. I don`t suppose anyone out there would have a spare handle?

They tell me muntjac that you can`t just put any metal on the alliminium as it sets up a reaction and  corrodes and I don`t think there is room put it on the frame.

Could you make a replacement out of wood?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

My skills are limited to growing and am incapable of DIY (female pensioner mid 70`s...if that can be used as an excuse!)

I'd say a cabin hook as munty suggested, you 'll find some of them are plastic coated therefore they wont corrode the greenhouse and to be fair, i think they can only mean it would corrode at the point where its fixed on and not the whole thing !  :D

this would do it

if you use a bit of silicone sealant on the contact points this will also stop any reaction as well....

That looks great and hints on fixing very helpful. That`s on my shopping list for weekend. Thanks a lot. Luckily we haven`t had the gales and rain that some of you have had over the last couple of days (that`s one for the book as in the N W Highlands we usually get it all & some!) Hope everybodies greenhouses stood up to the weather.
