Cock advice

Umm, anyway, I picked up a couple of hens today and was convinced that the addition of a cock would keep the hen house in order and generally make for a nice atmos. I was assured that this particular bird was generally not too noisy. If this proves to be a fib is there anything i can do to stop him from creating?? I live in a built up area, so don't want to upset anyone and, if pos, would like to keep him as he is a nice looking bird.

Thanks

I have two cocks. a free range White star that goes in his own house at night and doesn't start crowing at the moment till 06.00am. Once hes out he quietens right down. the other is a Yokohamma that is in a house and run with his two ladies, I am going to have to house him apart from them as he crows every morning six times at 03.30am  and then goes quiet till Thomas starts,.so far no complaints, our bedroom window is open and we hear him, hopefully everyonbe else has there windows closed so they wont hear him.
I like to have lots of fresh air, hubby has got used to what he calls the ice box environment. :D
Happiest in the countryside.

Last night our Big Colin started crowing at 10.30pm and went on for ages, he got the other cocks in the surrounding campo crowing too.  We often hear the neighbours cock crowing at around 1am    At least he doesn´t make as much noise as the neighbours 20 plus peacocks/hens when they get going, now that is noisy

Our neighbour had 7 cocks, she bought them as very young birds and fattened them up.  She killed off the last 4 last week (or the week before, time flies) and sold 2 for 6€ per kilo to the neighbour, she got 33€ for 2 birds   She was happy, wonder if the neighbour was????

How can you have a cock called Colin?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Well he broke into song at 5.30 ish - well, i say song it was more of a rowdy shouting. Lasted for 30mins ish and since then have not heard a peep out of him. Do the male of the species tend to have a routine ?

Amazing what a male in the pen does for the dynamics of the group. All the in fighting has stopped and they all appear to have fallen into line. They all seem very relaxed too. He has only been there 12 hours!! Hope i don't have to get rid  :(
