ducks: unknown ' passage ' any ideas ????
« on: March 03, 2008, 13:15 »
thats the nicest way i could think of to term it lol     :D

just spoke with the OH who informs me she's seen a reddish/ pinkish ' thing ' in the ducks house this morning.
not a solid poo or a runny one, somewhere inbetween and about the size of a tablespoon

she did say she'd seen something like this a couple of weeks ago outside of the run but it had disappeared when she went back to take another look, and they have only recently, 4 weeks ish ago, started laying so could this be something ' normal ' connected with that ? the layings been normal AFASIK with two eggs a day consistently sized and shaped (and very nice)

do they come ' in season ' like dogs n cats etc do ??? sorry if that sounds daft but when you dont know you gotta ask

the house is cleaned regularly and they dont seem to make that much mess inside to be fair, partly i suppose cos they're out and about all day long and dont usually go back in during the day, cleaned them yesterday and haven't seen any evidence of owt like red mites or anything like that (and i always check the nooks and crannies) at all so pests are out of the equation to the best of my knowledge, everything washed down with jeyes, left to dry,  and then diatoms sprinkled liberally all over and loads of shavings and straw down for the bedding.

does this ring a bell with anyone ????  :?:

I'm afraid I don't know anything much about ducks Dave but hens do sometimes pass a lash:

It's a part of the reproductive track that sloughs off but I've no Idea if this is what has happened to your OH's duck.  Did she take a picture ?
