Our orchid lives on the kitchen window sill and has always faced inward so we can see the front of the blooms. I'm thinking if it was sun/heat scorch why only on the leaf tip? And why not on leaves facing the glass?  I was thinking maybe something fungal?  It was a gift years ago and label long lost. Can anyone put a name/variety to it. Also what are the light green growths pointing downward towards soil in pot but never seem to do anything? As you may deduce we know nothing about orchids.
Thanks for your ideas

First the easy part.  Generally, you probably already know it is a Phalaenopsis (moth orchid). If it wasn't tagged with a variety name, you will never know which specific moth orchid variety you have. Too many white Phalaenopsis that nobody kept the breeding records on. Just enjoy it for what it is.

Leaf damage.  I the damage is not growing larger, it is probably heat or sun damage. If the damage is getting larger, it is probably bacterial damage; cut the leaf off an inch into healthy green leaf tissue. I recommend a very sharp blade.  Preferably sterilizing the blade before and after cutting (boiling water, folloed by cooling, works well).
