Hopefully, we are moving to Northern Ireland near Omagh at the end of August.  At the moment we struggle to grow anything consistently from year to year because of the heat in South East England and the struggle with watering.  Has anyone done this type of move and can offer advice as to what to expect in terms of produce to grow and especially when the growing season outside starts in Ireland?

You’re not far away from John who grows quite well half way up a mountain in Snowdonia.

As long as you get a bit is sun and not too much rain.   :D

My sister lives in County Down, near Down Patrick, she grows successfully outside & has just had a poly tunnel to replace her greenhouse that suffered wind damage repeatedly.
A woman's place is in her garden.

Given that weather forecasts usually include us, by default, in Northern Ireland I reckon you'll be about the same as me in SW Scotland. Most traditional vegetables grow well outside but tomatoes, peppers/chillies and aubergines do best in a tunnel. Tunnel also good for winter salads. You'll certainly be wetter and typically not as hot but, as in SE England, every year is different and therefore has different failures and successes.

My cousin is in the republic but right next to the border and I was amazed at the variety of stuff her husband grows outdoors. Most things you can think of, but no tomatoes, he was planning on a greenhouse for that. Everything looked very lush.
