Gone for a few weeks and back home with ISSUES
« on: May 29, 2024, 10:48 »
Hello,

Been away for a few weeks and ive returned to find a few issues that I need bit of advice on please. London call soil type.

1. I have 2 bears breeches acanthus which have long given me issues with possible powdery mildew but this time its really bad. Ive tried using the milk or vinegar solution before, ive tried chopping infected leaves and then I even tried digging it up completely to get rid of it and replace it but it came back even stronger which was impressive.

It doesnt seem to effect other plants but its not very good looking at the moment. What could I do?

If this is going to be a reoccurring thing any plants that could replace it that give similar large green leaves, jungly feel, thats fine with London Clay soil?

2. Before I left my clematis was doing well but now its suddenly died by the looks of it. Could I of over fed it before I left or is it possible it got more sun that its used to as 2 very large tried were removed by my neighbour which would have done that. (its on a watering system so its should be getting watered when needed).

Either way does this look done for?

3. Just some advice as I want to add more to this area of the garden but it only gets about 2-4 hours of sun? The pot here was dug up by a fox while I was away probably and I did have some wild flowers planted there but they've all vanished.

Cheers !

Clematis roots need shading from the sun and they can get die-back.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
