Is there such a thing as a hen sitter ?

Is there anywhere I could someone to look after my hens while I am away on holiday ?

My son used to look after them, but he has moved away now (my grand daughter dont get to see her hen that often now)

They are various breeds, from very small to light sussex and morans, but they have sorted out the pecking order (I think the little uns actually run the coop now though)

So I need someone to look after them for a couple or 3 weeks, can anyone help out ?

give your local vet a call - they often have "pet sitters" advertised, these charge around £5.00 per visit usually. I am sure with the increasingly number of chook keepers you will find one! In an emergency we use one -they have helped out with all sorts of animals including snakes and goats!
Otherwise try your nieghbours? Nothing like collecting your owm eggs and that might just persuade them!

If a local search doesn't turn up any 'pet sitters' try 'dog walkers'. Might sound daft, but you might find they'd leap at the chance to diversify. Most 'house sitters' would also do it - but an expensive option! :?

Tried the vets, plenty of dog walkers (maybe I could fit a lead to me chooks) but no hen sitters

where are you jellyhead?  we are going back to uk in July, and are looking into options.  Trying to talk a friend into coming, but of course they want to see us too!!
