Yes. It's happened to me, and it happens when I grow them in containers, but not when grown in the ground.
I can only presume the cause is either stale compost, ie grown in the same soil for more than a year, or when the roots are too restricted as they will be if the containers aren't deep enough and there are several plants included within.
Also strawberries uptake a lot of water, and in containers, any neglect to the point that they start to wilt will stress the plants. Once that happens, the new leaves. as well as older ones start to brown from the edges, and even once you've watered them, the issue seems to continue.
