I planted 10 winter cauliflowers before the onset of winter. I covered them with a double layer of fleece about three times during the heavy frosts, then placed netting on them in early spring when I saw the remaining six being attacked by pigeons. So about four days ago I was overjoyed to see white cauliflower heads forming. I wet back two days later, during a lull in the rain, only to discover they were being massacred by slugs (maybe I should have taken the nets off!). Now they are all a brown-looking mess thanks to the dirty deeds of these vile creatures.
