I am an avid leek eater and just want to know what is the best feed I can use. Is it a nitrogen-rich one or will Vitax Q4 do?

Vitax Q4 has a higher ratio of P and K than it does of nitrogen. I would probably suggest you go for something with more N, as you mention.

We used to apply a liquid 6X, nettle and comfrey fertiliser, as I always felt that as the roots are going to be so far down, a liquid feed would get down there quicker/easier than a pelleted version!

This may be a flawed argument, but the leeks used to romp away every time!

One tip I can offer, is to apply a liquid around the roots and never over the leaves, as the collected stuff in the channels, over a season, can discolour the veg somewhat!

I fork some fish, blood & bone into the soil before planting. (Based on that the bit I want to eat is the leaves, so nitrogen is what they want.)
After that I use home made nettle liquid.
Not a leek expert by any means but they seem to do well on it.

Right then, it's some BFB on planting followed by diluted 6X. Thanks. Am trying Bleu Solaise for the first time as they're supposed to  be very tasty. Nothing nicer than leeks with a good dollop of double cream!
