« on: July 09, 2022, 16:39 »
we have had an exceptional year with our pea crops this season full pods on both varieties Kelvedon wonder and Hurst greenshaft we prepared the ground with a granular fertilizer prior to planting the peas that where raised in six packs in the greenhouse so is it a good year for peas or have we struck lucky with our pea crops this season

and have you other gardeners found its good year for pea crops to

Yep, Kelvedon Wonder sown in guttering to avoid hungry mice and then slid into a trench. Didn’t bother with any fertiliser, but just harvesting a good crop of full pods with no sign of maggots :D. I think the early sown one seem to escape, so I only sow one batch and then move to mange toute.

My Sugar Ann were fantastic, this year. Today I picked the first few Alderman tall peas and a few had wrigglers inside. I'll have to be careful when I shell them...

It certainly is a bumper year for peas. We’ve eaten loads and had 3 blanching sessions for the freezer.  And there not finished producing yet.

Same here with the wrigglers, Mum - chucked half a picking away just now!

Disappointing crop, but there again, I admit that I didn't help the situation by letting the plants get to 7'0" before stopping them, and anyway, they've nearly all died out...

Going to try a late crop of runners to grow on the frame!
