I have just re-new my car insurance and I went with the same one as last year now the Q. what's the value of your car would you believe the insurance is worth more than the car its only 20 years old only just run in and its environment friendly not many bad gases because I only do a few miles a week

talking of the lada we had a Lada car once it was like driving a tank but it kept on going all weathers come rain or shine the only repair I did was to replace the timing chain it finally became a rot box so I gave it to the local school to play about with never had another Lada went on to Scoda had several finally ending up with my present Scoda that i said  I've had for twenty years

never seen a Lada car for many years now do they still make um ?

I also had a lada, brilliant car, space on the back seat for a moped.  Did wonders for my arm muscles.  Took either 2 or 4 star petrol, was never bothered about leaving it unlocked

On a different note I now drive a Skoda fabia bought second hand last year, the garage phoned last week and asked if I would be interested in selling it back for £1,000 more than I paid

I can see your the owner of a proper car Gracisgran  and the Scoda Fabia definitely worth every penny you paid for it

Skodas have definitely gone near enough to the top of great cars these days!

Some Kent chums here may know about the huge car parks at Sheerness Docks, where they were imported, stored and then moved around the country! (A concrete company I worked for had a huge contract to work there - we loved it all)!

My FIL had a Fiat, which became the Lada model in later years - he leant it to me to bring home Mrs Growster and first Daught all those years ago...

It was a fabulous car back then as all I had was the building firm's Minivan when it wasn't needed on site!

My Dad had a beige Lada. Only good things I remember about it was that it always started and had a fantastic heater. Probably designed for Russian winters!

I may be wrong, Bayleaf, but when the first Minis came out in the late fifties, a heater was an additional option!

I just loved those cars, they had not much more than an 'On/Off' switch, and a piece of string to open the doors! We had three Minis, the first (four years old in 1974) cost £500.00, the second we got for £350.00, and the third cost £1,200.00 on finance! When we got the second one, I leant on the front wing, and my hand vanished somewhere near the wheel...
