Sutton seeds and their pitifull service
« on: December 31, 2021, 13:01 »
I placed an order with Sutton seeds (£47.00) and in order to have the order excepted I had to fill in my phone number, I usually use (0123456789) as this normally works with this question. On this occasion it failed and I had to put in my real number to place the order.

After completing the order I emailed them to ask if they not give my telephone number to the couriers and the told me that they could not do that. so I cancel the order, they excepted to cancellation and confirmed that they would make a refund.

This morning I got a email telling me that the order had been despatched in part (Elephant garlic to follow) so I phoned them and they confirmed that they had made a mistake and the cancellation would go ahead.

10 mins after the telephone call I got a email thanking me for the order but now it was on a different order number!!!!!!

I have never seen such incompetence in any online service before, Have you?

Doug

Any company/anybody can make mistakes, I've made a good few myself, often just by clicking the wrong button, although I agree it can be very, very frustrating when it happens...

couriers, like any delivery company, like having a contact number so they can tell you when the delivery will be made or if they have difficulty delivering to you then they can ring. Hubby has problems just trying to deliver shopping to people.
Telephone numbers are 11 long and not 10.

I find it useful to give my mobile number on ordering as quite often you get a text to say when & who by it will be delivered & then another on the day saying time, sometimes it’s on the dot which I think is pretty good service

Hello you'll find that since Suttons DT brown,Fothergills Dobies merged that there will he teething problems as they are all taking their seed from a central  warehouse not their own seed banks,at the moment the orders are being taken remotely by a couple of people who then send the order to the central warehouse, since the merger the new garden centres Dobies were going to build have been put on hold    jezza

I'm pretty sure that Suttons are partnered with Thompson & Morgan (which still explains the problem!)

I think It's, Marshalls, Unwins, DT Brown, Fothergills & Johnsons - that are now together  ::)

Maybe just Moles and Kings on their own, nowadays?

I thought of this today, when I received my seed order from Marshalls - the flower seeds inside were in Unwin's packets

that's interesting to know about all these seed companies merging Mum as we buy our seed from either Kings or Moles with no probs although we have ordered some seed from DT Brown awaiting delivery

I haven't got a problem giving the seed company my home number should the need to contact me regarding my order on the understanding its not shared with any other parties as our home number is ex-directory

that reminds me Amilo not to order any seed from Suttons and I don't buy any packets of seed from G'C
